Komodo is a year-round destination
Komodo dragons do not migrate. They live on Komodo and Rinca all year, and local guides and rangers walk visitors to see them every day.
Day trips by speedboat and sailing trips on phinisi boats run throughout the year from Labuan Bajo, so you can plan around your own holidays and flights.
Green hills or golden hills
The islands change colour through the year. For part of the year the hills are bright green, and for the rest they turn a golden savannah brown. Both are the Komodo people come to photograph, and neither is the wrong one.
Padar, Pink Beach, Kelor and Taka Makassar are visited on the same routes whatever the colour of the hills.
In the water
Snorkelling is part of almost every trip. Manta rays are seen in the park throughout the year, most often at Manta Point, and turtles are regulars at Siaba. They are wild animals, so no one can promise a sighting on a particular day.
Holidays and busy weeks
School holidays and long weekends are the busiest times, and the cabins and boats people want most are booked first. If your dates fall in a holiday period, contact us early so you have the full choice of boats.
Outside the holidays you will usually find more choice at short notice.
How to choose your dates
Pick the dates that suit your flights, then tell us how many days you have. One day covers the main sights by speedboat. Two or three days on a sailing boat add sunrise at Padar and sunset with the flying foxes at Kalong.
Arah Pesona Trip is locally owned, with an office in Labuan Bajo, so you can ask us about your exact dates on WhatsApp or by email.
